MacLay Civil Engineering Ltd operate a UKAS certified quality management system accredited to ISO 9001 and externally audited by SGS UK Ltd. Quality Plan’s are developed to establish specific control procedures on a project-by-project basis providing a framework for best practice project management and quality control.
Similarly an environmental management system accredited to ISO 14001 is operated and externally verified by SGS UK Ltd. Our environmental management procedures support the commitments within our Environmental Policy. At a strategic level our business activities have been subject to significance testing and objectives and targets established to maximise recycling opportunities and secondary use of material simultaneously reducing waste to landfill. Strategies have been developed with the support of the Carbon Trust to reduce both CO2 emissions and energy consumption.

Implementation of an Occupational Health and Safety Management System accredited to ISO 45001 and externally verified by SGS UK Ltd is evidence of moving beyond mere legal compliance to develop exemplar best practice. Our Health and Safety Policy sets out our approach, objectives and arrangements for managing health and safety. The Policy states our commitment to take all reasonably practicable steps to ensure the health, safety and welfare of our employees and persons affected by our operations. The Policy commits the company to creating and maintaining a positive safety culture and securing the participation of our employees and to ensuring that adequate resources are allocated to pro-actively manage risk, provide instruction and training and monitor health and safety performance. The Policy is the formal statement of our responsibility to comply with all relevant health and safety legislation and for implementation and periodic review of our health and safety management system to ensure its continued effectiveness.
Health and Safety competence is principally evidenced by virtue of having satisfied the stringent requirements of ISO 45001 and the principal recognised Safety Schemes in Procurement [SSIP] within the construction industry.
