Description of Works:
MacLay Civil Engineering Ltd were appointed as Principal Contractor by South Lanarkshire to deliver the Newton Station Park and Ride Phase 3 works. The project was extended by way of additional works which were agreed with the client and completion extended accordingly. The works were completed within the clients budget. The contract was awarded under the NEC3 Engineering and Construction Short Contract and involved the construction of a new park and ride car park and footpath providing an additional 155 spaces as well as widening the car park access road as well as a ramped and stepped pedestrian access to the existing car park.
Major elements of the works included site clearance, earthworks, kerbing and drainage installation. New street lighting and ducting for CCTV were installed and the car park was surfaced with 45mm HRA on 80 DBM binder course on 375mm Type 1 granular sub-base on 600mm Capping. Thermoplastic road markings were applied by MacLay Civil Engineering Ltd and street lighting was installed. Soft landscaping to the perimeter of the car park included top soiling, grass seeding and tree and shrub planting.
